HCT IS HIRING: Trail Crew - Summer 2024

Description: The Harvard Conservation Trust is seeking applicants to join its Summer 2024 Trail Crew. Work as part of a dedicated team to remediate and restore protected land and trails in Harvard. 

Hours: 20 hours/week

Compensation: $17/hour

Qualifications: A passion for working outdoors in nature!  Prior experience working on trails, aspirations to work in land conservation or courses in environmental studies, land protection and stewardship. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, perform physically demanding work and hike up to 5 miles a day. 

Responsibilities: Your supervisor will identify invasive plants and work alongside your team to remove them and then to replant areas with native seeds or saplings in order to restore the ecological balance and promote native biodiversity. This involves a variety of methods from manual removal to the use of power tools.  

Occasionally you may be asked to also help construct or repair trails, mow or weed whack trails and trailheads, Clear trail corridors of brush and fallen trees.

This is an opportunity to hike and work in some of the most beautiful areas of New England and engage in important trail projects across Harvard’s extensive trail system. This position is hands-on, and projects can be physically demanding.
