PICK UP at the Small Common

Sunday, April 27th, 9:00 am – 12: 00 pm

This year we are providing White Oak seedlings (Quercus alba). This special species is an important, long-lived hardwood, somewhat common throughout eastern and central North America, which is tolerant of a wide variety of site conditions whether wet or dry, sunny or shaded. Give it room to grow and keep it away from the salt of winter roads! Your seedling could become a dominant canopy tree, reaching 100 feet in height, with broad strong branches and edible acorns that are an important food resource for wildlife, being less tannic than the more common red oaks.
